This year was just wild—the first half, easily the best time of my entire life, and the second, one of the worst I’ve ever had. Hence, no year in review this time, as it’s all too fresh to see any silver linings.
I just wanted to check in with you and let you know that I will be shutting down Kaliko in 2025. Not because it's difficult to run a handmade business in 2025 (it is), but because it's just time to let it go and focus on new things. A solo business, a full-time job, a house in another country and a life with an energetic dog - one has to go. With Kaliko, I have achieved everything and more than I originally intended. It's been a beautiful and successful project and I feel it's now complete.
If anyone is interested in taking it on, in whatever form, I am open to all offers.
If not, I will be holding a sale at some point this year to clear out the stock. I may still offer workshops in the future, but as an artist, not a business, so you will be hearing from me anyway. Kaliko products will be leaving my shelves for good, studio in Berlin will close in September, and I hope to be done with extensive business bookkeeping once and for all.
Substack stays, so that we can keep in touch.
And in case you missed it—my tiny house is now finished and listed on airbnb. I will write about it one day, it was a labour of love and I am so grateful to myself for seeing it through no matter what. If you're looking for a holiday getaway, this is the place to be (and you don't need a car to get here).
That’s it for now, friends.
Take good care of yourself.
